Welcome to BostonSchoolOptions.org

This website is designed to serve as a roadmap for Boston parents to understand the wide variety of school options in Boston. Our city is home to some of the best public schools in the country. In 2007 the Boston Latin School, one of the city's three exam schools, was named one of America's Best 100 High Schools by U.S. News and World Report.

In addition to 122 "traditional" public schools, there are 14 charter public schools (e.g. Roxbury Prep), 3 "exam" schools (e.g. Boston Latin), 3 tuition-free Jesuit schools (e.g. Mother Caroline), 20 "pilot" schools (e.g. Tech Boston), and 32 suburban school districts which educate Boston students via the "Metco" busing program. All of these are free. Finally, there are 31 low-cost Catholic schools in Boston.

The process of finding the right school is extremely important; with so many options, the process is sometimes confusing and often complex. This website is designed to direct parents toward reliable information about the full range of options available to them.

There's no easy way to find the right school for your child. It takes time. How to start? Click into each "tab" and get a sense of Boston's school options.

It's the most important "shopping" you'll ever do!
